Classic Multicultural Wedding at Black Horse Inn Virginia | Lacey & Marc

Happy holidays everyone! I have been on a major blogging hiatus during a wonderful busy wedding season, however I am so excited to dive back in and share more of our 2018 weddings! Kicking off with this beautiful one from this past May.

Lacey and Marc, who originally met at their local church group, had a classic, thoughtful celebration that included meaningful details as nods to their cultures and travels together. Marc proposed at the top of a mountain in the Scotland highlands, once he and Lacey reached the peak.

We focused their wedding design concept on reflecting their love and nature and the outdoors, as well as complimenting the natural beauty of the venue, The Black Horse Inn in Warrenton, Virginia. Guests were seated at tables named by cities all over the globe that had a special place in their story. Their wedding took place on derby day, so it made perfect sense for Lacey ride into the ceremony with her parents on horse & carriage (not to mention the Black Horse Inn’s beautiful stables fit the bill!). Grove Lettering Co. designed double sided ceremony programs, with a Chinese translation on the reverse side for Lacey’s family and friends who traveled in from her home country. Their ceremony was officiated by their Reverend from the church where they originally met. Following dinner, Lacey changed into a traditional red Chinese wedding dress to honor her culture. Guests danced the night away and enjoyed the specialty Scotch bar, a nod to the location where they we’re engaged.

Classic Countryside Autumn Wedding | Megan and Zack

Happy New Year friends! I'm so excited to kick off my first blog post of 2018 with Megan and Zack's wedding day from this past November. While it turned out to be an exceptionally cold day, you could barely feel it with the love between these two. While posing for portraits outside in 30 degree weather, I specifically recall Megan say "I'm so happy that I can't feel a thing!".

Megan was stunning in a classic, elegant ballgown by Vera Wang, paired with adorable sparkly sneakers to keep her toes warm. Keeping with tradition, Megan and Zack decided not to see each other prior to their ceremony, which was officiated by Zack's family pastor at Jackson Chapel in Frederick, Maryland.

We pulled inspiration from seasonal autumn colors, the venue setting in Frederick's countryside, as well as their favorite flowers. Floral & Bloom designed gorgeous, textured bouquets consisting of soft, neutral tones and flowing silk ribbon for Megan and her bridesmaids. We pulled in pops of rich color with eggplant bouts for Zack and his groomsmen, and mixed into the low floral arrangements on guest tables. The other half of guest tables had elevated arrangements full of greenery and magnolia, adding warmth and texture to the pure white tent. One of my favorite details was the added greenery expertly installed on the tent's existing chandeliers by Floral & Bloom. A little addition that made such a big impact on the overall ambiance of the space!

Check out some of the pretty details ahead captured by Rebecca Wilcher! View the full vendor team at the bottom of the post. Congratulations to Megan and Zack, it was a joy to be part of your big day!

Earthy Chic Autumn Wedding Editorial

If there's one thing I love about planning weddings in the DC area, it's that the possibilities are endless. While DC is best known for its classic grand ballroom and opulent historic venues, this city has some hidden gems for those looking for something outside the norm. My goal in this editorial was to intertwine a nature inspired, organic setting with glamorous elements - an aesthetic that's best described as "earthy chic"!

Woodend Sanctuary was the perfect venue to bring this vision to life. Located in Chevy Chase, Maryland, the venue features a historic mansion surrounded by a sprawling, peaceful oasis of preserved nature right outside of our bustling nations' capital. The al fresco table scape, effortlessly chic bride-to-be, marble textures, subtle pops of lavender and soft pink were some of the intentional details that made this editorial so special. It turned out to be everything we envisioned and more thanks to an amazing, super talented vendor team and stunning images captured by Dani Leigh Photography. You may recognize some of these images from our Wedding Chicks feature, as well!

Loved this simple, yet elegant marbled invitation suite with deckled edges and copper foil, by Ruby the Fox

Wooden cross back chairs and farm table from Party Rental Ltd. blended seamlessly to Woodend's landscape. Is there anything better than al fresco dining during golden hour in autumn?

This hand-tied bridal bouquet by Jasmina Design was made up of greenery, eucalyptus and foliage, with lavender and cream roses. It was recently named by BRIDES as one of the best rose bouquets this year

We added pink glassware to tie in the floral tones, which really made the table scape pop.

Marble, wood and hammered copper were some of the organic textures that we tied into the table scape design.

How amazing are these sugar flowers and copper sugar ribbon by Catherine George Cakes?!

Our awesome model Maura, looking stunning in Woodend's wildflower meadow. So many unique spaces for photo ops here!
